Our President has recently finished bagging all 282 Munros - Congratulations Anne Artis ...............a fantastic achievement. On behalf of the ladies of Ruskie, Lesley Gentles wrote a poem which Janice Oman read out - THANK YOU Lesley - it is brilliant. A plant and a card were also presented.
We were absolutely delighted to welcome Ally Logan to kick off our 2025/2026 session - my goodness what a great night we had in Ruskie Hall. Ally joined the navy straight from school, but after getting sea-sick on Loch Lomond in the first few weeks, he quickly decided a land-based career was more his thing. After a meeting round the kitchen table at the farm, he decided maybe an auctioneer was to be his chosen path. He had an interview with United Auctions and the Cally. He decided that the Cally was for him, and started there as a 17 year-old and was there for 44 years. One of his proudest achievements during his career was using his skills as an auctioneer and raising LOTS of money for various charities. He had the ladies in stiches as he recalled his time in Australia for the rugby...........as he strutted about in his kilt - the locals.........especially the ladies who followed him about - the boys did enjoy all the attention!
An auction was held and bids were coming in thick and fast!
Dolly The Sheep (Sharon) - winning bid was made by Mary
Percy The Pig (Elizabethg) - winning bid was made by Elsie
Daisy The Cow (Anne) - winning bid was made by Isobel
Trigger The Horse (Libby) - winning bid was made by Heather
.......................it was hilarious
Many thanks to Ally for taking the time to come to Ruskie Rural...........I am sure the ladies of Ruskie only heard the suitable stories!
