The full 26.2 mile off-road route snakes through the pass of Glencoe, before climbing 500 metres up the Devil’s Staircase. From the eastern edge of the Aonach Eagach Ridge runners look straight onto the mighty Buachaille Etive Mor (the great herdsman) before dropping back to sea level at Kinlochleven. Climbing up through the Mamores the route undulates until the descent into Glen Nevis and the base of the mighty Ben Nevis, the UK’s highest peak. The route climbs a total of 1608 metres.
As part of the Glencoe Marathon Gathering there are two more distances available so that every ability of runner can enjoy this most spectacular part of Scotland - the Mamores Half Marathon starting at Kinlochleven and the Glen Nevis 10K.
