Monthly Meeting - 'How to Make an Omelette'

  • Ruskie Hall Ruskie (map)

*** NEWSFLASH *** CHANGE OF SPEAKER ***

At our April meeting we will be joined by Chris Duffy of the Auchtermuchty Food Museum who will share some of his collection of books, manuscripts, artworks and documentary objects. His story starts with the purchase of a battered cookbook in 1983 which fired up an eclectic collectors’ passion and search for answers – the tale of food as it is described and remembered! The talk takes its title from Xavier Marcel Boulestin's 1937 recording of “How to Make an Omelette” – come along and enjoy the demonstration as Chris follows the vintage instructions.

Competitions: The following will replace the published competitions in the Syllabus

 Three pancakes

Photograph of “People Eating” (we have taken inspiration from Chris’s latest exhibition where he has photographs from all over the world, which date from 1865 to the 1980s and cover every kind of situation in which people eat, from celebrations and large parties to solitary meals for one or two.) Please bring your own photographs of “People Eating” to share with Chris.

Ruskie’s own cookbook and photograph archive will also be available in the hall on the night.
